THE MODREJCE APARTMENT WHERE The village of Modrejce is located on the right bank of the Soča river in the vicinity (800m) of Most na Soči and the confluence of the Soča and Idrijca rivers. Here the Soča river spreads out into an emerald accumulation lake of the Doblar Hydropower plant. It is the main landmark of this area and it is appreciated by fishermen and tourists who like to enjoy organised, scenic and undemanding trails around the lake. The village is situated on a very important crossroads. The roads go towards Ljubljana, Bovec and Nova Gorica and there is also the Jesenice – Nova Gorica railway near by. There is an hour's drive to Trenta and the Triglav National park. The location and good weather conditions have allowed settlement development from prehistoric times, which can clearly be seen from rich archaeological finds from the bronze and iron ages.LANDMARKS In Most na Soči there are restored and protected remains of a Roman house. The Church of St. Maver, first mentioned in 1192 also speaks of the town's long history. In the archaeological museum there is a permanent exhibition including the reconstruction of a Halstadt house, in the Mali muzej museum there is an exhibition of Italian, Austro-Hungarian and German objects found on locations where the battles of the Austro-Hungarian 15th corps took place. In the vicinity (Postaja) there is an interesting 1st World War monument and there is also a military cemetery from that period in the village of Modrejce. In Slap ob Idrijci the house of Slovenian writer Ciril Kosmač can be found. It is also a part of the Genius Loci European programme. ACTIVITIES The possibilities for the active spending of your free time are many. There are organised walkways all around the lake and there is also a hiking path leading past Stopec to Postaja and back to Most na Soči along the old road above the Idrijca river. There is also an educational trail through Most na Soči – Čez most po modrost (across the bridge to wisdom) which takes us through three millennia of the town's history. The Kosmač educational trail is a well marked walkway which takes the visitor past scenic locations to the writer's home. The trail can also be visited by bike and can continue to Spodnja Idrija. Slightly more demanding trails lead to viewpoints on the nearby hills of Senica, Bučenica, Mengore and Cvetje where you can see 1st World War bunkers and strongholds, as well as to the top of Čukla. From here there are spectacular views of the river Soča valley, the lake, the Tolmin basin and the Baška grapa valley. More demanding hikers can take on the beautiful and serious mountain tours between the mountains of Krn and Črna prst. The Soča river in its upper part offers many pleasures to water sport lovers and fishermen. In the part between Kobarid and Most na Soči, where the river becomes calmer it is also suitable for water sport beginners, families and schools and there are also places where you can swim (from Slap ob Idrijci to Bača pri Modreju). You can also take the scenic ride on the tourist boat all the way to the dam in Podselo. The main tourist activity is fishing. The rivers' characters vary a lot, the area is large and allows fishermen to always find suitable fishing spots, even in bad weather. On the ground level of the house there are one two bed apartment and one two bed room. In the apartment there is a bathroom with a shower and one room with a kitchen and two beds. Additional bunks can be set up. In the two bed room there is a French bed, a bathroom with a shower and a mini kitchen (for making breakfast). Both units are equipped with a refrigerator, dishes and cutlery, satellite TV, bed linen, towels and hair dryers. The rooms have central heating. In front of the house there is an external relaxation area with a view of the lake and the surrounding mountains.
