THE RUT APARTMENT
WHERE The village of Rut is situated on the outskirts of the Triglav national park in the Baška grapa valley. It is a small and pleasant village with kind people. It lies on the flat slope of Rodica high above the Baška grapa valley. The Baška grapa valley is a 30 km long valley of the river Bača between the village of Petrovo Brdo and the river Idrijca, carved deep among the peaks of the Alpine outer rim. A railway, an extraordinary architectural and historical monument built in 1906 goes along the river valley. A 7km road leads to the village from the village of Koritnica. LANDMARKS The villages of Rut and Grant (2km from Rut) were settled at the end of the 13th century with the arrival of Tyrolean settlers. They assimilated among the local population through the centuries but the surnames, regional names and other expressions still mark their origin. The village's main landmark is a hundred year old lime tree, one of the most important tree landmarks in Slovenia. At chest height it has a circumference of about 8 metres and its height is 23 metres. Because of its location (the border between the Alps and the Adriatic) this area is a paradise for botanists and lovers of mountain flowers. The gothic church of St. Lambert is also a special landmark. It is the only church with chapels in the Tolminska region and it is also adorned with beautiful frescoes.ACTIVITIES The village offers numerous possibilities for active holidays. Nature lovers will find a place of their own here as this is a suitable starting point for various excursions as well as sporting activities. Mountain crests from the Vogel and Črna prst mountains offer hiking trips with spectacular views of the Bohinjsko jezero lake, Triglav and the Adriatic sea. From the village of Rut a nice path leads to Rodica, a 1966 metres high mountain from where you can continue to Črna prst or Vogel. Besides hiking, biking along forest trails is also interesting and even backcountry skiers can enjoy this area in winter time. THE APARTMENT
The apartment is located on the ground level of a larger house with a large atrium and a garden. The guests have a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom and one three bed bedroom with one additional bunk (one additional bunk is also in the living room) at their disposal. The apartment is equipped with a refrigerator, a dishwasher, dishes and cutlery, satellite TV, bed linen, towels and a hair dryer. All rooms are head by electric ceramic heaters and there is also a fireplace in the living room to provide the atmosphere especially in the colder days.
